What we do

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a mandatory document which is required whether you are selling or renting your home. The EPC provides information on the property’s performance in relation to the amount of energy used and the environmental impact of the home based on its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

It became mandatory for all residential properties either for sale or for rent to have an EPC available for inspection to a prospective purchaser or tenant. If you are putting your property on the market for sale an EPC is a mandatory document.

An EPC will give you a rating for both the property’s Energy Efficiency and Environmental levels and is calculated in accordance with national government approved methodology which takes into account factors such as insulation, heating, hot water systems and type of fuel used. In addition, the certificate will also provide cost effective recommendations on how the homes energy ratings can be improved upon and the typical savings which could be achieved per annum.

Our fully qualified domestic energy assessors, upon instruction, will visit your home and carry out a full assessment of the property, to include measuring the floor areas, assessing the type of insulation used in the property and lighting/ heating sources used. All this information is then processed using the assessment methodology which has been produced under the Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007.

All our assessors are fully accredited through Elmhurst Energy (www.elmhurstenergy.co.uk) and confirms the details of their procedures and the EPC’s authenticity.
